Happy Birthday Jamie!

Today is my wife's birthday. Happy birthday Jamie!

This past weekend was a lot of fun. Jamie, Evan, and I went to the West Shore Farmers Market on Saturday for an early lunch and to pick up some stuff. Also, I found a really cool book at the used book shop, we got Evan a cool frog dish ware and bib set, and Jamie got some bath stuff. We went out Saturday night with our friends Jen and Drew and Mick and Molly to the Coliseum which is a local adult arcade, bar, and restaurant. It is pretty much the same thing as a Dave and Busters if you know what that is. Dinner was pretty good. We all got our own thing but we also ordered some hot wings to split which ended up being a whole lot hotter than we had anticipated. The phrases "tastes like eternal damnation", "I wanna slap our waitress with my sauce covered hand", and "someone better put a roll of toilet paper in the freezer" were just some of the phrases uttered to state how hot the wings were. Thankfully there is a Maggie Moos ice cream shop attached the the place.

On Sunday we went to lunch with mom and dad and did some shopping at Target. It was a nice, fun, relaxing weekend.

Two new good X comics

Here is a quick post about two good comics which were released today that I read and enjoyed. The first is Astonishing X-men #24. Joss Whedon (of Buffy, Angel, Firefly/Serenity fame) has been the writer of this excellent X-men series since issue #1. There is only one more to come, the story will be concluded in Giant Size Astonishing X-men #1. Rumor has it that one of the team will be killed off and it seems as though it will be Kitty Pryde. I hope it isn't her though I am pretty sure it is. She is the only member of the team who is missing from the storyline which just concluded in the other comic here, X-men #207. This issue is the 13th and final part of a storyline called Messiah Complex. The mutant popuation was recently reduced from thousands to approx 198 and this storyline was about the first mutant child being born since and different groups trying to get to the child to save it, kill it, exploit it, etc. This storyline was excellent. The future of the X books will be quite interesting for a while. Read any good comics lately?

I can not wait for this!

Here is one of the first pictures of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as Mulder and Scully from the upcoming second X-Files movie. The film is slated for release July 25, 2008. It will be a "stand-alone" story not caught up in the mythology of the series' nine season run. X-files is my all time favorite tv show so this is a big deal to me. Anyone else excited about this, or any other upcoming movies? I have not been out to the theatre since the last Harry Potter film so it has been a while. There are quite a few I wouldn't mind seeing right now, Juno topping the list. Anyone see any good (or not so good) movies recently?

BLAHg

Here we have it, the first entry of 2008 to the blog. Or as I have recently been thinking of it, the blahg. I just feel that this blog is blah. Maybe because I have been feeling that way lately. Anyway, I have decided to try to make the blog more fun, funny, and exciting. Look for some changes coming up soon. I may not be posting entries as often but I promise to do so at least once a month and to make them well worth the read. The blog will be getting a much needed visual overhaul as well. Please give me some feedback through comments so I know if you like or dislike what you are reading and know what to continue doing or stop doing.

As for what is going on. Not a whole lot. Grandpa Christie came to visit us and he, Jamie, Evan, and I went to the Pa Farm Show. I was surprised that he (a farmer) nor Jamie had ever been. It was fun to see Evan's reaction to all of the animals. This past weekend was Jamie's company's holiday party which was a lot of fun. It was at the Fire House restaurant in Harrisburg. I took a vacation day to have the whole night off from work too which was nice.

The new year has brought on some bad times so far too. For some reason, one of our cats pissed on our ottoman (which is part of our fairly new couch which isn't even payed off yet) while we were at the farm show. I bought some spray at Petsmart and think I finally got the smell out. However, one of them then pissed on the couch on Sunday morning while we were away. The cats are now banished to the basement for a couple of weeks until they learn to appreciate the life they have upstairs (a trick which we read online) though the life in the basement isn't too bad since it is 3/4 finished. So far so good, no mess in the basement. The reason we were away on Sunday morning is because Evan had been running a high fever off and on Saturday that got quite high early Sunday morning to the point where all he did was cry and yell and not sleep. Our pediatrician suggested giving him Motrin to help his fever and get him to sleep for 5 hours or so. If that didn't work, she said to take him to the E.R. It didn't help his fever at first and he only slept about 3 hours before the screaming started again so we took him to the E.R. just to be safe. A prescription and a few days later and he is just about 100% again.

Alrighty than. That's it for the first entry of 2008. Check back again soon as I promise to keep the blog exciting and new. Come aboard. We're expecting you. The LOVE BO. . . sorry, I got carried away there for a sec.
