What I've been up to.

Hey! I have been up to a lot of stuff. Wanna hear about it? No? Well too bad!

Two weekends ago, Evan, Jam, and I went to the Whitaker Center in Harrisburg to see the exhibit "Our Body: The Universe Within". It was amazing. If you have not heard of it or similar exhibits, here is a brief description: "OUR BODY: THE UNIVERSE WITHIN literally goes “under the skin” to expose the intricacies of the human body and explore health science, anatomy and physiology. This riveting exhibition showcases real human bodies, respectfully presented and preserved through a revolutionary process allowing visitors to see themselves in a fascinating way like never before. Take a look inside the skeletal, muscular, respiratory, and circulatory systems as you come face-to-face with 12 polymer-preserved human bodies and 80 organs and partial specimens. You will never look at your body in the same way again." If you live nearby or the exhibit comes to your neck of the woods, I highly recommend it. It is very interesting and amazing. At first it was hard to imagine that these are real bodies but when you look closer, especially into the eyes, it really hits you and makes you want to take a closer look at everything. The Whitaker Center also now has a Kids Place with exhibits and activities for kids 0-5 which Evan loved.

Last weekend we finally watched the movie Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. As a big fan of Tim Burton's movies, I was really excited to see it. I wasn't sure how he would be at directing a live action musical but it was spectacular. Johnny Depp was great as usual and the rest of the supporting cast were good too. Sacha Baron Cohen was really impressive. Fans of musicals, Burton, Depp, or the macabre should check this out. We also watched the movie Next but there is really nothing worth noting about it.

Speaking of musicals, last week I watched Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. I had not even heard of it until the day it premiered. The movie was written by Joss Whedon, his brothers Zack and Jed, and Maurissa Tancharoen. They wrote and filmed it during the WGA strike to create something small and inexpensive, yet professionally done, in a way that would circumvent the issues that were being protested during the strike. It stars Neil Patrick Harris as Dr Horrible, Nathan Fillion as Captain Hammer, and Felicia Day as Penny. It was temporarily available in three parts streaming online or as a download at itunes. I think it is still on itunes but there is a dvd in the works as well. It was entertaining with some great laugh out loud moments. Fillion really hams it up and has some great lines. The ending is a shock as well. Lots of laughs and drama totally worth checking out.

I started a Facebook page which still needs work but I already like facebook better than MY other SPACE. I'm going to tone down my myspace a bit but still use it to keep in touch with my friends there but I think as far as social networking goes, I will do more on facebook.

Last Wednesday, I saw Hellboy II: The Golden Army with my friend Jason. The movie was incredible. I could not believe how good it was. I liked the first Hellboy movie but this one really stepped it up. The effects were astounding, the story was well-written, the acting was good, the fight choreography was amazing. There is this great part where Hellboy and Abe Sapian are drinking and talking about women but then break into song which is hilarious. Nothing but good things to be said. I really hope they make one more movie in this series.

This past weekend I hung out with my friend Nudie Mike. We had not gotten together in a while so it was nice to have him over to the house. We just can't get our schedules to coincide to get together as often as we used to. We just hung out at the house, had Jam's homemade pizza for lunch, and played some Mario Kart Wii. I gave him the first half of Battlestar Galactica Season 4 which I had taped for him and he loaned me two movies which I hope to check out soon. We were going to see The Dark Knight at the Whitaker Center IMAX theatre but it was sold out. The only Dark Knight we saw was Evan in his Batman pajamas.

Evan's grandpap came up for the day on Monday and brought him a swing set and sand box so we played outside on Monday and Tuesday. And here we are now on a rainy Wednesday. To be continued.
