The first is the 500th issue of Uncanny X-Men. Marvel's description is as follows: "Why have the X-Men moved to San Francisco? What do Magneto, Master Mold and the Sentinels have to do with the surprising events of this issue? As "X-Men: Manifest Destiny" begins, Marvel's mutants head into a bold new direction!" I thought it was a pretty good issue. It serves as a good set up point for things to come in this if not all of the X books. It was nice to see Magneto back in action again. The writing and art were good and I am eager to see what is to come.
The second comic is X-Files #0 from Wildstorm. This is a story set somewhere within the shows first few seasons. This was written by Frank Spotnitz who wrote many episodes of the tv show and co-wrote the upcoming movie. Though the story was interesting, I felt the pacing was a little too quick. The art was perfect for this book and reminded me a bit of the old X-Fles series from Topps back in the 90's. I thought this was just going to be a one-shot for fans to go along with the upcoming movie but there is actually a new monthly series in the works. As such a huge fan of the X-Files, I can't wait for the new comic series to begin this fall.-Special C
